Chris Hyde is a California native who loves living in the Pacific Northwest. Chris is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and Talbot School of Theology. He is passionate about multiple progressive causes as well as equality for everyone. In his free time, Chris enjoys music, traveling, reading, snorkeling, hiking, wine tasting, and spending time with his new husband. He appeared on Lisa Ling’s “Our America” Special Report episode, God and Gays, advocating for the closure of ex-gay ministry Exodus International. It was also during the filming of “Our America: God and Gays” that Chris met Progressive Soul co-host Catherine Chapman.
Catherine Chapman is a Pacific Northwest native who enjoys art, nature, learning, reading, writing, and painting. When not spending time with her partner, their two children, and two mutts, she is finishing up grad school to become a mental health counselor. Raised an evangelical Christian and preacher’s kid, Catherine now describes herself as a secular humanist. She is also an early childhood trauma survivor and former ‘ex-gay’ leader. Catherine’s passion is activism in which she works toward ending conversion therapy for minors, closing ex-gay ministries, as well as addressing other human rights violations in the LGBTQ community. Catherine’s newest venture is into radio as she co-hostsProgressive Soul on Wild Planet Radio 99.1 KPQR with Chris Hyde.

Bobby Dupree has over two decades experience in broadcasting, including as major market on-air personality in Houston, TX & Portland, OR. During his multifaceted broadcasting career he has created & programmed radio stations all over the U.S. As an active member of the LGBT community in Texas, he regularly lobbied in the state capitol for better access to HIV/AIDS medications. He has lived in Portland since 1999 and you may know him from his days DJ-ing at Red Cap, his queer night at Ohm back in the day, his queer night at Level, his three years DJ-ing at the Red Dress Party, and also three years as the Fire on the Columbia DJ. His background comes from the warehouse / rave scene and his DJ sets on KPQR will reflect his house roots and his uptempo dance / vocal house style influenced by the NY DJs and circuit DJs. Frankie J has been involved with the PDX LGBTQ scene for over 20 years. He arrived in Oregon from Arizona In 1995 where he first joined the Embers on Broadway.He has DJ’d all over town, including CC Slaughters, Panaroma, Boxxes, RedCap, and Fez. He is now holding a regular weekly show on Wild Planet Radio as well as maintaining his own website for his mixes and multimedia. Frankie also now carries on a full time position at Platinum Records Lights & Sound which is Portland Oregon’s official pro-audio, video, lighting and DJ shop.
Steve Sims is host of Not Weird, Queer, a weekly 2 hour show that focuses on the music of the LGBTQ community. Steve began his radio career in New York in 2004 on The Quest of Life and has been building his international music library ever since. Originally from Seattle he now resides in Portland.

David Sylvester (FWB Records, Two Dudes in Love, Playground, Wild Planet Radio, SF/PDX) David Sylvester hosts the Friends With Benefits radio show, delivering house, techno, and disco mixed continuously by DJs of the queer underground scene. The two-hour broadcast airs Saturday nights at 11pm PT. David is a co-founder of Friends With Benefits Records, an independent house and techno label with an emphasis on innovative queer producers. He is a co-resident DJ at Playground, a monthly dance party in Portland, OR. featuring fellow resident Sappho and monthly guests. As a producer, he has remixed the likes of Bright Light Bright Light ft. Elton John, Hard Ton, Nark, Microfilm, and Double Duchess. He is currently working on his debut solo EP.
