WPR Exclusive with Brett Bigham
Oregon’s 2014 Teacher of the Year Brett Bigham has been placed on paid administrative leave, his district confirmed Friday afternoon.
The move follows Bigham’s filing of multiple complaints against the Multnomah Education Service District, though the district would not elaborate on why Bigham has been removed from the classroom.

Vaune Albanese – Executive Director of Friendly House
Vaune has been on the Friendly House staff since June of 1982. She was the founding director of Friendly Chaps (now known as Friendly House After School Program) and has had the opportunity to work with homeless families, elders and children of all ages in her years at Friendly House. In 2005 she was hired to be Friendly House’s 11th executive director, a position she resisted until her son was raised and she felt competent to meet its challenges. She can’t retire until Friendly House has a $1,000,000 Endowment Fund and hopes you will help her get there!

Today’s guest on SAP was Ani Haines, Director of Volunteers at KBOO-FM, and new WPR volunteer Sam joined us for the hour. Our topic this week was 10 things to do and not do when your kid reveals that he or she is gay. Our music this week was from Well Strung and Queen Latifa.
Next week our guest will be Vaune Albanes, Executive Director of Friendly House. Vaune is an out and proud member of the LGBT Community. We’ll discuss a little from her life as well as exciting plans at FH for 2015.
